There’s no news about the FY2021 budget impasse. Governor Lolo Moliga has not signed the budget that the Fono sent him and ASG is operating under an executive order that will be expiring on October 15.

ASG is still opened with expenditures limited to personnel costs only.

Governor Lolo responded to the Fono leaders’ letter which informed him that the outcome of the one day special session held Monday was reaffirmation of the FY2021 budget bill that lawmakers approved.

Neither the Governor’s Office nor the Fono have released the letter. The Governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira said yesterday the governor wanted to make sure that each senator and representative receives a copy of the letter before it’s released to the media “so we are not accused of playing politics.”

KHJ News checked with a few senators and representatives yesterday and they had not received copies of Lolo’s missive, but told KHJ News that the Senate President and House Speaker have received the letter and have not shared it with them.

Meanwhile the governor has called an emergency cabinet meeting for this morning and it’s believed that the budget is one of the main items on the agenda.
