
Dates have been set for the dedication of various construction projects and contractors are speeding up the jobs in the face of adverse weather conditions and limited construction supplies.
It was announced by Chief of Staff Fiu Johnny Saelua at last week’s cabinet meeting that the monument commemorating the first raising of the United States flag in 1900, at Sogelau, along with the fales constructed next to he Jean P Haydon Museum will be dedicated on October 8th.
The dedication of the new offices and fale for the Territorial Administration on Aging Office is scheduled for October 15.
TAOA has relocated from its offices in Pago Pago to their new building next to the Territorial Correctional Facility in Tafuna.
Meanwhile the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources have moved to the former TAOA Office in Pago Pago.
DMWR vacated its building behind the Fagatogo marketplace and moved to the top floor of the Tedi of Samoa Building two years ago.
The DMWR building suffered damages and leaks from Hurricane Gita and parts of the interior of the building is covered with mold.
The final project to be dedicated is the extension to the Guest House and the new fales constructed at Suiga ula o le Atuvasa in Utulei which is scheduled for October 24th/
Some construction materials were in short supply due to delayed shipping schedules and wet weather has also affected the projects.
Meanwhile groundbreaking of road projects which have been on the drawing board for many years have taken place or happening soon.
A groundbreaking for the reconstruction of the Malaeloa loop road, one of the worst potholed roads on the island, took place last Friday.
And this Friday is the groundbreaking for construction of a new road at Leapaga and Malaeimi, which connects to the Fagaima/ Kokoland Road.
