Governor Lolo Moliga has issued a declaration of appreciation and gratitude to all public and private sector employees of the territory for the 2020 Labor Day.

“It is an indisputable fact that a happy, excited, motivated and a secured employee adds great value to business and government organizations as he/she directly impacts the quality of services rendered to the public and influences the cost of providing the service or product which increases profits for the business and maximizes the use of limited public funds with respect to public benefits,” says the declaration.

“It was understood at the start of the Lolo Lemanu Administration that the importance and the value of an employee to the success and continued development of the business community and the effectiveness of government needed to be constantly articulated and made clearly known to the employee,” said the governor.

He added this is what compelled the Lolo Lemanu Administration to establish the first Employee Appreciation Day on August 30, 2013.

And for seven years since “this activity has become an iconic event because we have subscribed to the ideal, conviction and belief that the future economic and social development of the territory of American Samoa is dependent on each and every worker, be it for wages or for self sufficiency gain.

According to the governor this message must be “conveyed loudly and vociferously to the workers in a manner and fashion that can truly be felt by them in terms of genuineness and sincerity.”

He lamented however that the deadly effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic “have given rise to the sad decision to suspend” this year’s Employee Appreciation Day.

Nevertheless the inherent sentiment and the reasons that led to the event remains, said the governor.

Lolo thanks on behalf of the leaders of the Fono, the Judiciary and Lt Governor Lemanu and himself, all the employees of the territory of American Samoa and wishes them
