The last movie night at the territory’s only cinema was March 16, then it closed due to the COVID-19 emergency declaration restrictions.

Nu’uuli Place Cinemas is reopening its doors today with some restrictions.

General Manager Isala Pauu says they are only opening one movie room and instead of 140 customers which is the full capacity, they will allow only 42 people to comply with social distancing.

And they will make sure the theater is closed by the 9pm closing time for businesses.

There will be two matinee showings at 1pm and 4pm and the evening showing is at 7pm, Monday to Sunday. “Unhinged” with Russell Crowe will be the first movie to be screened.

During the closure one of the theater’s projectors malfunctioned and the GM says they hope to have it repaired if parts arrive on today’s cargo flight, so they can open the second movie room.

The theater employed 10 people before the Coronavirus shut down.

Until they can get both movie rooms operating only 7 employees will be working.
