Governor Lolo Moliga says he approved a flight last week to Samoa to take an engineer from the LBJ Hospital to fix Samoa’s CAT Scan.

He commented at yesterday’s meeting of the Coronavirus Task Force that there are certain things which he is allowing for the health and well being of the people of Samoa.

He referred to the oxygen supplies from the territory during the measles outbreak and added last week he received a request from Samoa for an engineer to fix their CAT scan which has been down for four months.

The governor pointed out that there are some things that Samoa helps with. For example, the airplane, a reference to the Samoa Airways aircraft based here to provide service to Manu’a.

The governor made it clear that the border with Samoa is still closed. He told the meeting that “we will stick to our policy, and not go by what Samoa is doing.”

Last week, the Samoa Prime Minister said that if American Samoa agrees, there will be a weekly flight by Samoa Airways to and from the territory to return citizens and residents from both sides.

The governor said yesterday there were a lot of requests to bring people on the flight that went to Apia  Friday to take the engineer from LBJ, but he ordered that no passengers or cargo will be allowed on the flight.
