New emergency declaration under review

An emergency cabinet meeting was called by Governor Lolo Moliga this morning and measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic were discussed.

A new continued declaration of public health emergency is being reviewed and is expected to be issued today.  That declaration is to go into effect on Monday.

Health Director Motusa Tuileama Nua said that DOH is now suspending health clearances for US passport holders and residents traveling to Samoa until it receives word on the result of the first suspected coronavirus case in Samoa.

DOH will continue to issue health clearances for returning travelers from Samoa.
