After the long delay in issuance of refund checks last year, an announcement from Treasury will be welcomed news for those who were the first to file their 2019 taxes.
Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipea said in a notice issued this morning that batches 1, 2 and 3 of tax refund checks will be released on Friday, March 6th.
The total value of checks in these first batches is $1.3 million. The Additional Child Tax Credit refunds which are covered by the US Government amounts to $982,253 and the balance of $404,831.44 is paid by the American Samoa Government.
Those receiving checks Friday includes those who filed their taxes beginning January 1st to January 23rd.
The Treasurer advises that refund checks are issued based on the date of filing.
