The Emergency Operations Center has provided a list of sites that have been approved as emergency shelters for people to move if their homes are unsafe before the storm hits.
For the West: CCCAS halls in Poloa, Amanave, Nua and Seetaga, Asili, Leone, Vailoa and the LDS Hall Lepuapua.
For Central: Pavaiai Methodist, Nu’uuli Pentecostal, Faleniu LDS, Tafuna Elementary and Fagatogo Methodist.
For the east side: Onenoa CCCAS, Alao Catholic, Sailele CCCAS, Amouli CCCAS, Alofau Methodist, Fagaitua CCCAS and Laulii Methodist.
Fagaitua High School is also housing 50 people from Onenoa whose homes were washed over by waves yesterday.
Director of Homeland Security Samana Semo Ve’ave’a says all those who are in the shelters at this time are providing their own food but there’s discussion with the Red Cross and faith based organizations on possible assistance. The American Samoa Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (ASVOAD) is also involved.
