Samoa police confiscate 10,000 marijuana trees

A police raid on Samoa’s drug capital at Faleatiu village has seen what is believed to be the largest haul of marijuana…10,000 fully grown trees.

Six people were arrested in the early morning operation which also netted methamphetamine, a large amount of cash, assault style weapons and motor vehicles.

The operation was led by Police Commissioner Fuiavailili Egon Keil.

He said they were also acting on reports that escaped prisoners were hiding in the area.

The area near the Faleolo International Airport is notorious for drugs and had been the scene of several Police raids in the past but they had never ventured this far inland.

Police have yet to put a value on the haul and did not say when those who were arrested would appear in court.
