Thomas Siaumau violates probation

Escaped inmate Thomas Siaumau will spend 3 months of a suspended sentence from 2017  in confinement at the Territorial Correctional Facility.

Siaumau who is serving a 30 year sentence for shooting at a police vehicle in December 2017 at the Tony Solaita Baseball Field and also shooting lights at the field, admitted to violating conditions of his probation.

He was in District Court yesterday for a show cause hearing.

Assistant Attorney General Christy Dunn asked the court to revoke Siaumau’s probation fron an October 2017 sentence.

In that case he was placed on 12 months probation for public peace disturbance.  He was ordered to serve 90 days in jail with credit for one day he spent in jail and the remaining 89 days were suspended.

However in December of 2017 he was charged for shooting at the police unit.  A jury found Siaumau guilty of multiple counts.

Assistant Public Defender Anna While didn’t oppose the government’s motion to revoke probation She told he court that Siaumau has admitted to the violation.

District Court Judge Elvis Patea ordered that Siaumau serve the 90 days of his probation with credit for the one day he served and the remaining 89 days will run concurrent with his 30 year sentence for the shooting incident.
