At the end of Day 5 of competition in the Pacific Games yesterday American Samoa had added two bronze medals to its medal tally. One in women’s beach volleyball and the second one in women’s tennis. So that brings our medal tally to three. One silver, won by swimmer Tilali Scanlan and two bronze in women’s beach volleyball and women’s tennis.

Our women’s beach volleyballer Litara Keil and Devenney Pulu defeated Solomon islands 2-0 in the bronze medal match.

In tennis Chartiy Sagiao and Kalani Soli won over New Caledonia in the bronze playoff, 6-0, 6-2. The tennis competition is run on a point system and our girls lost their chance to play for silver and gold because their final point tally was below the other teams. PNG went on to win gold and Samoa won silver.

Our men’s volleyball team’s opening match against Samoa was a nail-biter and those who watched at the Tuanaimato Gym and on TV were treated to some exciting volleyball action.

The game could have gone either way but in the end Samoa outclassed our boys, by just one point. Great game guys!
