Their plan is to train up to 2,000 American Samoans.

The courses will be taught by professors from Madison, Wisconsin who will be based in the territory.

The website provides information on the courses that will be available.

The two courses are Computer Game Designing using MIT Scratch and Computer Programming in Java-An Interdisciplinary Approach. The fee is $500 per course.

Dr. Sharma said that internship opportunities will be available at big name companies such as Google, Facebook, Intel and others.

These are companies the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund has been wooing to set up in American Samoa.

Dr. Sharma says these courses are geared to the needs of the industry and not for a degree.

He is confident that students who successfully complete the courses will not have a problem getting hired with the skills and knowledge they will obtain from the courses.
