Samoa Police this week arrested social media blogger Paulo Malele known as King Faipopo and charged him with further defamation charges.

The new charge relates to allegations made in a social media post against Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.

According to Samoa Observer, Police Commissioner Fuiavailili Ergon Keil confirmed the arrest.

“I can confirm, he has been arrested and it is for the same issue, however on brand new charges,” he said.

Malele is already facing 13 defamation charges in the District Court, which are also for making defamatory statements against the Prime Minister.

A recent video he posted on Facebook accuses Prime Minister Tuilaepa of being allegedly involved in a “mafia gang”.

In the same post he challenged his “haters” to stop hiding behind the keyboard and to come to him at the Court building.
