The “KU’U LOA” Open Air Concert held last Friday afternoon at Su’igaula was a huge success, according to organizers,  and was effective in sending out the anti drug and alcohol message to those in attendance.

“Although we didn’t quite have the numbers we were looking for, it was however a great start indeed.,” said Leapai Sipa Anoa’i of the Governor’s Drug Control Office.

Ku”u Loa is the new initiative  by the Governor’s Drug Control Office to stop the abuse of illicit drugs.

Partner agencies such as Department of Human and Social Services, Department of Health, and Public Safety’s Narcotics Division talked about the services they provide and the perils of using drugs.

Guest speakers included Tuala-uta Rep. Samuel Ioka Meleisea and Fofo Rep. Andra Samoa who shared their stories with the community.

A mother of 9 also shared her experience and heart breaking stories of what her family had to endure as a result of drugs.

Local musicians and youth singers from Teen Challenge all donated their time and talent to help drive home the  message “KU’U LOA”… Stop Now the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

Because of the successful turn out the Governor’s Drug Control Office plans to hold three more open air concerts this year.
