Parents of elementary school children were not too happy to learn just as school was finishing that school buses will not be able to transport their children home.
The reason is because the School Transport division had run out of diesel fuel.
When reached this afternoon, Director of Education Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga told KHJ News that fuel supply for school buses is coordinated by Public Works and the fuel supplier. She added that what happened is out of DOE’s control.
She said the diesel supply was not delivered until late this afternoon and buses were sent out after they were filled.
The director said they had hoped the delivery would have happened earlier so as not to interrupt the transportation of students after school.
The School Transport Division said that diesel supplies began running low last Friday and the reason is because of non payment of ASG’s fuel bill.
