The weather held up for the opening night of the 41st Annual Holiday Music Festival at Suiga Ula o le Atuvasa last evening and those who came out were not disappointed.

Certainly the American Samoa Arts Council and Department of Youth and Women Affairs heeded Governor Lolo Moliga’s instructions to lift the bar with this year’s program.

All the church groups and the teachers of Manulele Tausala who were performing for the first time received a great response from those at Suiga ula and no doubt the arm chair spectators who tuned in to KVZK-TVs coverage.

Earlier First Lady Cynthia Moliga switched on the Territorial Christmas Tree.

In addition to the Christmas lights and trees at Suiga Ula another Christmas display can be see at the location of the Rainmaker Hotel which was put up by  the Development Bank of American Samoa.

Governor Lolo Moliga, the Senate President and Speaker of the House,  Lt. Governor Lemanu Secretary of Samoan Affairs and Their wives had front row seats.

And there was a good showing of cabinet members.

The program continues tonight with ten groups and the finale is tomorrow.
