The  holiday season is the busiest time of the year for the Pago Pago Post Office and according to Post Master Tao Suani there’s a lot more Christmas mail coming in now than compared to previous years.

Last weekend, the postal facility received about 30,000 pounds of mail which the Post Master says is one of the highest loads they’ve received.

For outgoing mail, it’s the time of the year that residents mail out packages, mainly food items like cases of tuna , pisupo and clothing to loved ones off island.

A lot of holiday mail is destined for uniformed family members.

The Post Master says because of the high volume of holiday mail, the last day to post packages intended to arrive in the US  by Christmas Day is this Thursday, December 13.

For express mail, the deadline to post so that your package will arrive before Christmas is next Monday, December 17.

The Pago Pago Post Office will be opened on the morning of Christmas, Tuesday, December 25 from 9am to noon.  This is for package release only.
