Samoa police yesterday issued a warning against people posting threatening statements and speculations in the case of a young government civil engineer who passed away this week from injuries sustained in an alleged beating over the weekend.

In a statement issued last evening, police confirmed that they are currently carrying out an investigation into an incident during the early hours of Saturday, December 1, 2018 which claimed the life of Mr. Jeremiah Malaki Tauili’ili.

At this point no arrests have been made as investigation is still continuing.

“There has been a lot of speculation and threats made on social media, SPS urges the public not to take the law into their own hands but allow the law to take its course,” said the statement.

They warned that threats to any person(s) or damages to properties as a result of such actions is a criminal offence.
