The pain of parents losing a child unexpectedly is felt in a heartwrenching post by the mother of Tinian Makewijere Tuileto’a Toese, the 8th grader who drowned at the Pala Lagoon Swimming Center, yesterday.

She was the eldest of five children.

Her mother, Winnie Tuileto’a Toese said in a FaceBook post yesterday, “Today my eldest daughter Tinian Makewijere Tuileto’a Toese left our family by shock and sadness.  This Friday was supposed to her graduation day at Pavaiai Elementary but sadly God has other plans for her. ”

Her grieving mother said, “If only I can die to save your life Tinian. I miss you and I wish I had never let you go on that field trip.  We were so looking forward to the next level in life. You were heading to high school but I guess not.  I love you dearly and you will always be in our hearts. ”

Mrs Toese was grateful for the outpouring of love for their family as shown by the many people who showed up at the hospital upon learning of their loss.

She said, “I want to thank all families and friends that came today and comfort us at the hospital.  May the Good Lord bless you all.”

Tinian was at a Grade 8 outing for Pavaiai Elementary and is reported to have drowned in the 6 foot pool.

There were about 100 students in the group with 6 teachers.

The Principal of Pavaiai Elementary School declined to offer any comments.
