
The Department of Interior was informed this morning of the passing of the former Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands, Pedro Pangelinan Tenorio.
Tenorio, 84, passed away early this morning.
He was the 2nd and 5th governor of the Northern Marianas and served 12 years as that territory’s chief executive, the longest tenure of a governor of the CNMI.
Tenorio has traveled to American Samoa a few times as a member of the Pacific Basin Development Council and also as a member of the US Coral Reef Task Force
Former Governor Tenorio is survived by his wife Sofia, and 8 children.
