Once cyclone Gita blew through last weekend the Tafuna Community Health Centre opened 24 hours daily to cater for a projected patient increase which fortunately has not happened.
Director of the Tafuna Community Health Center, Dr Saipale Fuimaono, told KHJ News that thankfully there has been no increase in patients coming through for treatment.

He explained that health centers at Amouli and Leone are closed and Tafuna is being utilized because of it’s central location.
Dr. Fuimaono explained that numbers have been steady at around 50 patients a day which he says is about the usual numbers they had before the cyclone.
And it also helps that the clinic is offering a free service.

With no serious injuries, the focus is ensuring there is no increase in patient numbers after Gita.
According to Dr Fuimaono, this 24 hour service will end next week.
