Catholics in American Samoa are joining a world wide celebration to mark the 100th anniversary of an event that took place in a poor part of Portugal during World War 1.
A figure, a woman all in white appeared to three children: Lucia (10), Francisco (8), and Jacinta (6) who were tending to their sheep .
The apparition told the children, “Please don’t be afraid of me, I’m not going to harm you.”
Lucia asked her where she came from and she responded, “I come from Heaven.”
The apparition asked the children to pray the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and an end to the war.
In the last apparition s,he revealed her name “I am the Lady of the Rosary.”
Celebrations are being held across the world and especially in Portugal to make the centennial and the granting of sainthood to two of the children Jacinta and Franciso.
The Diocese of Samoa Pago Pago had planned a procession from the Veterans Memorial Stadium to the Holy Family Cathedral at Fatuoaiga early tomorrow morning however due to bad weather and flooding in front of the LDS Church in Ottoville, there’s been a change of plans.
The various parishes, and church groups will gather at the Fatuoaiga Hall for a procession at 8:00 am to the cathedral where there will be an hour of Adoration followed by a Mass at 9:30am.
Bishop Brown encourages families to attend the centennial celebration tomorrow.
