According to the Economic Development Implementation Plan for American Samoa workforce development will include turning Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School into a full fledged trade school.

The aim is to have graduates of the trade school pass a digital credential that a student could use towards college credit.

Agriculture, automotive, building construction, and electronics are key subject areas that NVTHS will be offering in the first three years.

Under the plan, before Fiscal Year 2017 is over, Manu’a High School will begin offering trades courses.

Construction of a Trades School at the American Samoa Community College is also planned for this year.

At the Vocational Education Fair on Saturday, Nu’uuli Vo Tech teacher Kenneth Jacob said upgrading the trade school is a step in the right direction.
