Governor Lolo Moliga’s 2016 Thanksgiving Day message pointed to human and inter personal relationships as a gift which should not be forgotten in the era of technological advancements.

The governor says, “While we appreciate the positive impact of technological breakthroughs on our lives, we have remained oblivious to interpersonal breakdowns, eroding relationships and bonds between ourselves, along with the scarcity of opportunities to interact with each other in fostering face to face expression of appreciation and gratitude for any good deed that do benefit us directly or indirectly.”

He stressed that “we have so much to be thankful for because God seems to have favored the people of American Samoa with His blessings as social misfortunes experienced by many countries are still alien to us.”

Lolo cites starvation and homelessness as examples of such misfortunes that are hard for us to fathom because food is plentiful and our extended families take care of our own.

The governor’s wish  for the territory this Thanksgiving Day: commit to advancing the spirit of this holiday by taking time to do something good to improve someone else’s life.

He said, “We must start a new Thanksgiving Day Spirit by committing to doing something food for your neighbor and to thank God for all the blessings you have received throughout the year. ”

Governor Lolo concludes, “On behalf of Cynthia and our family, and Lt.Governor Lemanu and his family, we wish the people of American Samoa deepest appreciation and gratitude for all that you have given to make our lives better. We pray that God will shower our people with His bountiful blessings.”

The ASG holiday for Thanksgiving is just tomorrow, Thursday.

All ASG departments and offices will reopen on Friday.

However public schools and most private schools will be closed both Thursday and Friday and resume on Monday.
