An inmate died at the Territorial Correctional Facility over the weekend.
This was confirmed by Commissioner of Public Safety Save Liuato Tuitele.
However the inmate’s name is not being released as DPS is still trying to locate his family.
KHJ News understand that the inmate had testified for the government in the Gold Conda case and was credited by the prosecution for a conviction of the main defendants.
Commissioner Save said yesterday that the inmate had been in and out of the hospital and he had just been discharged from LBJ before his death.
The inmate was out of his cell and near the TCF kitchen when he fainted and fell.
The commissioner said the inmate passed away at the spot.
