Three Events to Honor Gold Star Parents

A three-event celebration for a special  group of parents in American Samoa began this morning at the NASAC, Native American Samoa Advisory Council Center in Pavaiai.

Sunday is Gold Star Mothers day but the coordinator for survivor outreach services for thnasac parentse local Army Reserve, Julia Foifua, says their celebration is today, tomorrow and Sunday.

First off is a computer training being conducted by NASAC which began today and will run for 8 weeks.

American Samoa has expanded the Gold Star Mothers group which nationwide comprises mothers of soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty, to include fathers as well.

Foifua explains.

Dorothy Baker who runs NASAC’s programs says they’re proud to partner with the Army Reserve and work with a special group of parents.

Nasac trainerThe Gold Star group of parents will also be guests at a breakfast meeting at Tradewinds Hotel tomorrow morning followed by discussions and activities at the Army Reserve Center.

Then on Sunday they will attend the monthly Toa o Samoa service organized by the Marist St. Joseph’s Old Boys,

The service will be at the Pago Pago Catholic Church at 3pm Sunday.
