Bluesky Communications moved quickly to remove Samsung Note 7 phones from its shelves as soon as it was informed by the manufacturer of a possible default.

This follows reports of Galaxy Note 7 devices exploding due to faulty battery packs.

Country Manager for Bluesky American Samoa, Filifotu Vaai-Tinitali says  their company was  notified by Samsung of the recall on September 4th, and they  immediately took the phones off their  shelves.

Bluesky sold 7 Note 7 devices since he device was launched in August this year.

Tinitali says there were no incidents of faulty Note 7s reported to Bluesky by its customers.

Bluesky has also contacted every customer who purchased a Samsung Note 7 before the recall date to return their phone and exchange it with a suitable replacement.

Tinitali said all customers have agreed to the replacement.

The Bluesky Country Manager says, “Consumer safety and the quality of the products we stock, is a high priority for us and we will continue to do all we can to ensure the products our customers use are safe and of good quality.”

Samoa has followed the lead of a number of countries to ban the sale of all Samsung Galaxy Note 7s,

A statement says the Office of the Regulator has decided to halt all type approvals of Samsung Galaxy note 7 devices for sale in Samoa.

Any retailer proposing to sell these devices in Samoa will not be issued type approval to sell them.

Samoa’s Telecommunications Act 2006 gives the regulator the power to type approve any telecommunications equipment that will be directly or indirectly connected to a telecommunication service.
