Investigations of Death and Container Still Open

Two police investigations which have been in the news, the death of a young man in Aua and a container in which drugs and weapons were found remain open.

The death in Aua was presented as a suicide by hanging however the man’s family says that there were mysterious marks on his body  making them suspicious that foul play was involved.  

KHJ News was also made aware of threats on the victim’s girl friend.

In the case of the container, drugs and weapons were found during a customs inspection on the main dock.  

The consignee was a woman who returned from the mainland two years ago and the container had household effects , a truck and motorcycle. 

Marijuana and two guns were found in the vehicle and motorcycle and the contraband was taken by police.

The container was released to the owner, an employee of the Department of Commerce , five weeks after it had been in customs; custody.  

Chief of Customs Moetului Fuiava Sipili said the container was released after the police assured that it had taken the evidence.

Commissioner of Public Safety Save says investigation of the two cases is on going and they don’t know if anyone will be charged until the police probes are completed and presented to the Attorney General’s Office for a legal opinion.
