Contestants and Sponsors Introduced

The five contestants for the Miss American Samoa Pageant and their sponsors were introduced at a meeting of the Miss American Samoa Inc Saturday.

The rules of the pageant and the program for this year’s competition were explained by MASI officials led by President Meafou Imo and Vice President Seigafo Maria.

The next Miss American Samoa is to be crowned September 9th at the Lee Auditorium.

The contestants are Janet Peleiupu Fa’afo’i from Aoloau, Fellen Kelemete of Mesepa, Taisamasamaoletuimanu’a Punipuao To’atelegese and Antonina Lilomaiava of Aua.

Reigning Miss American Samoa, Suluga Taliau, also attended Saturday’s meeting sharing her experience with the contestants and giving them a pat on the back for entering the pageant.

She encouraged the contestants to boost their self-esteem and develop their self-confidence in preparation for the competition of their lives.

Among the activities that the girls will be involved In leading up to the pageant is a motorcade this Saturday will take the girls on a pay, starting from the Lee Auditorium and heading to Leone.

KHJ News introduces one of the contestants, Luava’asa’atia Esera, daughter of Senator Tuiasina Esera and the late Vaelupemaua Taufete’e Esera from Taputimu, Vailoa, Nu’uuli and Amanave.

She is sponsored for the beauty pageant by Families and Friend.

She shared with KHJ News her view of the theme of this year’s pageant.

The 19-year-old Leone High School graduate is pursuing a degree in liberal arts at ASCC.

She told KHJ News that it has been a very tough year for her after she lost her brother and her mother.

She dedicates her efforts to become Miss American Samoa to her mom.
