Officials from a New York company picked to develop the Rainmaker Hotel site are scheduled to arrive in the territory soon to finalize their contract and make preparations for the start of the project.
Destination Hotel partners LLC and Integrated Engineering Energy Solution LLC was the successful bidder in the American Samoa Tourism Revitalization Initiative Hotel site Development.
One of only two companies which submitted proposals the company is to design and build a 250-room hotel at the site where the iconic Rainmaker Hotel was located.
The governor’s executive assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira says officials of the Destination Hotel Partners will be coming soon to address details of the project with the governor.
In the meantime a report is being prepared to present to Governor Lolo on the status of the project.
The Development Bank of American Samoa, through the American Samoa Development Corporation, which owned 80 percent of the shares of the Rainmaker Hotel is providing security for the hotel site.
For now all that remains of what was once the majestic Rainmaker Hotel site is concrete slabs, in an unkempt piece of property which is sometimes mowed but for the most part is covered with uncut grass.
