American Samoa will be the next stop in the round the world flight by Australian teenager Lachlan Smart, who is trying to set a new world record as the youngest person to fly around the word in a single engine plane.

His trip dubbed *Wings Around the World,” started in Queensland, Australia on July 4 .

The 18-year old is due to arrive this afternoon at Pago Pago International Airport from Nadi, Fiji.

He is scheduled to speak to the local media this afternoon about his experience at the Tradewinds Hotel where he will spend two nights.

Smart will be adding to a history of young Australian adventurers that in recent times has included sailor Jessica Watson and fellow aviator Ryan Campbell.

Campbell was the last Australian to hold the record of solo pilot around the world in a single engine before it was broken by current world record holder, American Matt Guthmiller.

Smart’s motivation for taking on this gigantic task is to prove that age is usually just a number and shouldn’t limit aspiration.
