9:45 AM, Saturday The second heat is over and Paepaeulupoo ruled the seas, though Matasaua made a valiant effort and nearly caught up, but not quite.

2. Matasaua – Manu’a
3. Manulele Tausala II- Nu’uuli
4. Fuao – Vatia
5. Sinapioa – ASG
6. Manulele Tausala -Nu’uuli
7. Fono fautasi – Fono
The gun went off just after Paepaeulupoo arrived at the starting line.
All of the fautasi were scrambling for the top spots, Paepaeulupoo and Matasaua were the ones that pulled away from the rest of the pack in the opening minutes.
And once Paepae established its pace, it never let up. Matasaua was the big surprise, never before have we seen such strength and stamina from the Manu’a fautasi since it went hi tech,
Either of the two boats could have captured first place as they reached the home stretch. Paepaeulupoo was the first to cross the finish line and Matasaua glided in right after it.
Manulele Tausala which had falled behind in the scamble, showed its power by coming in the rear to finish third, ahead of Fuao. ASG’s Sinapioa placed 5th, the other Manulele Tausala placed 6th and the Fono, rowing in the old Iseula was the last to reach the end of the course.
Great race, well worth the waiting this whole week.
