Crew of the Executive Branch fautasi for the Flag Day race in April will begin training tomorrow.

Around three this afternoon a number of male employees from various government agencies assembled in the Fale Samoa at Suiga ula where officials of the Governor’s Office briefed them about the training schedule.

The Executive branch will be rowing the fautasi Sinapioa , which is the old Paepaeulupo from Aua.

Tuimavave Tauapa’i Laupola of the Governor’s Office explained that all male employees of ASG have been invited to train and be part of the crew.

Acting Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga is in charge of the Executive Branch fautasi.

A decision on who the captain will be has not been made.

The old Paepaeulupo’o, built in 1994, was completely refurbished last year and christened Sinapioa under a project spearheaded by Sandra Neria Fuimaono .

Meanwhile, training has already begun for Fono employees who will crew the old Iseula from Fagatogo.

At the last cabinet meeting, Secretary of Samoan Affairs, Mauga Tasi Asuega said that there are 9 long boats for this year’s fautasi race.

This number does not include the Fono and ASG fautasi.

Fautasi training isnt the only “extra curricular” activity that ASG employees are occupied with at this time. A three day clean up which begins tomorrow and ends Friday will also take ASG workers out of their workplaces.
