The American Samoa Telecommunications Center will be providing a weekly update of the conversion of homes and offices to fiber optic.
In their first fiber bulletin ASTCA says conversions are almost 50% complete.
Villages that have converted to fiber are from Onenoa on the eastern end of the island up to Auasi, including Aunuu Island and from the western most village of Tutuila, Fagamalo up to Utumea west.
ASTCA crews are currently doing home to fiber installation in Malaeloa, and Leone on the west side and in Amouli and Aoa in the eastern district.
From there the fiber installation will move to Alofau, Sailele, Masefau and Masausi.
ASTCA advises customers that in order to avoid delays in installation due to disconnection of phone service, keep your account current and pay your bills on or before the 15th of each month.
ASTCA is now accepting online payments through Paypal.
ASTCA bills can be viewed on line at astca.net.
