
Today, at 4:30pm, is the deadline for all voters of Manu’a District #1 to register for the Special Election on September 12. This is to choose a second House representative for the district to continue the term of the late Rep. Alumamalu Ale Filoalii, who passed away in June.
In last year’s general election, there were 770 registered voters for District #1 and a total of 510 voters cast ballots.
Tomorrow, absentee voting for voters with disabilities will begin and the Election Office is asking voters in this category to please contact them for assistance.
For those voters who will be travelling and will not return in time to vote in-person on the day of the Special Election, they can cast ballots before leaving but must provide proof of travel. Absentee voting is held at the Election Office from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 7:30am to 4pm.
So far there have been two absentee votes cast for the Special Election, and the number of outside absentee requests received is 2.
