May 5th, 2023 - Rotary District Governor Allan Smith and Rotarian Taulapapa Will Sword talk with Sia Atofau and Pauga Joey Cummings on 93KHJ. Smith and his wife Rotarian Sue Smith is visiting Rotary Clubs across the Pacific. On their American Samoa stop, they've toured a variety of projects undertaken by the local Rotary Club of Pago Pago.

So yesterday you were a Lion, today you're a Rotarian.

Whatever we need to do.

Yeah. And the great thing about friends is that some are old and some are new. And when I say old, I just mean that we've known each other for a while. I'm talking about Taulapapa Will Sword. Good morning, Will.

Thanks, Joey. It's great to be here. And good morning, Sia. It's a pleasure to have your company. And I'm looking forward to spending time in American Samoa. We've got some special things happening over the next few days. Looking forward to it.

Whenever you go about your touring the district, can you tell us what area of the earth that covers?

Well, district 9920 half of Auckland, so there's 30 odd clubs there that I am responsible for. And then I'm responsible for Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa, Tahiti, Kiribati and the Cook Islands. So I visit all of those. And it's amazing the good work that these Rotary clubs are doing within their communities.

I know rotary is well known for community service work worldwide. Everyone knows that here in American Samoa. How does the local Rotary club of Pago Pago compare to the other clubs?

They're doing an outstanding job. Any club who gives back to the community... and we're laughing about the Lions, Joey. And the Lions club collaborating is good. They're all trying to do good for the community.
