While attending Samoa’s Independence celebrations, Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga hosted a dinner for, both, the men and women American Samoa volleyball teams on May 31st, at the Lava Hotel Restaurant.
Both teams played in the Tri-Nation Volleyball tournament with the National Teams of New Zealand and Samoa, in the previous week. The AS Women’s team took the Gold Medal for their division, and the Men’s team took Bronze.
Governor Lemanu congratulated the young adults on their achievements: “Congratulations! I speak on behalf of our leaders to commend you on a job well done. Thank you for representing American Samoa with your hearts. We encourage you to play in these tournaments to fellowship and meet more people. It’s not all about winning, learn to enjoy the experience.”
The Governor also congratulate the coaches “for all of their hard work.”
The American Samoa Volleyball Association coaches presented Governor Lemanu with a Gold Medal, an autographed volleyball, and a team uniform as a token of their appreciation.
The Men and Women’s teams, together with the Queens’ teams, are currently playing in the Samoa Independence Tournament.
