Local boats in Top 5 of Samoa gamefishing tourney

Five fishing vessels from American Samoa competed in the four-day Samoa International Gamefishing Association Tournament held last week in Apia.

Anita Pier, captained by Mike Tolmie, placed 4th with a catch of 228.8 lbs and Double Trouble, with Chris Banse at the helm, placed 5th with a total poundage of 221.4 lbs. The top three winners were fishing boats from Samoa. 1st) Yellowfin which caught 302.1 lbs of fish, 2nd) Fua II with 258.05 lbs and 3rd) Reel Cat with 229.7 lbs.

In the individual categories, Pafuti Tupua of Double Trouble was the Top Female Angler.

Other local boats that competed were Peter E IV, captained by Peter Reid III, Noelani with Captain Tata Aga and Last Minute, captained by Maselino Ioane.
