Effective today, the LBJ Hospital is extending hours for its Non-Urgent Care Clinic.
On weekdays, the clinic is open from 4PM to 10PM instead of 4PM to 8PM, and the weekend hours are from 12PM to 6PM. The clinic will close on holidays.
The clinic was aimed at alleviating the patient load and waiting time in the ER.
Acting CEO of the LBJ Hospital, Dr. Joseph Shumway says since the non-Urgent Care Clinic opened in February, the waiting time for patients seen in the ER Clinic has been reduced by half.

Patients seen at the Non-Urgent Care Clinic don’t have to pay the $20 facility fee, which all patients at the ER have to pay. Additional doctors have been added to the clinic but there’s still a shortage of nurses, so the nursing staff in the clinic has not changed.
