Thanks to a donation by local company JF Tank Services Inc., nurses of the LBJ Hospital and supportive staff are receiving bonuses.
Company owners, John and Marlene Fotu’aika presented a check of $20,000 to the hospital management last month, and specified that it was a gift for the nurses to thank them for all their hard work. This was around the time that the nurses were up in arms about not being paid their promised salary increases.
Acting CEO of LBJ Hospital Dr. Akapusi Ledua said that a total of 216 nurses and their support staff are receiving their $200 bonuses today.
“It is with humble gratitude that I acknowledge our hardworking nurses and staff for their services during this difficult time,” said Dr. Ledua. “Their sacrifice and commitment can never be valued with dollars. It’s my prayer that they will be richly blessed with peace and prosperity. Thanksgiving also goes out to Mr. John and Mrs. Marlene Fotu’aika for their kind donation and recognizing the service and sacrifice of our nurses and their support staff.”
Dr. Ledua also thanked the LBJ Hospital Board of Directors for approving to match the donation “so our nurses can get a little more to share with their children and families.”
“To our LBJ nurses and staff, thank you for being faithful to your calling. Your profession is unique and special for your hands are anointed to save lives and comfort others in need. Keep up the good work and remember your service to those in need is your act of Worship to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”
