March is being proclaimed as Samoan Language Month, with a focus on speaking Samoan as much as possible.
Executive Director of the Samoan Language Commission, Peseta Tialuga Seloti, says their aim is to preserve the Samoan language, so that it doesn’t erode and disappear.
She says that it’s not oratory that their efforts are focused on but, rather, the everyday Samoan language.
When asked what is the best way to get children to speak the native tongue, she shared her personal experience.
