A father was sentenced to 15 days in jail for the physical abuse of his 12-year-old daughter, who has a disability.

The girl’s mother reported to police that her husband used an extension cord to discipline their daughter, after the girl denied taking money from his wallet.

The case was reported to police in October of last year, and the defendant was charged with one count of child abuse and second degree assault.

Under a plea agreement, he pled guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and private peace disturbance.

During sentencing on Tuesday, the defendant apologized and stated that he had learned a big lesson from his time in jail.

He was told to uphold the law, report to the Probation Office once a month or more frequently as directed, and to attend parent counseling with social services.

He was credited for time already served and was released from the Territorial Correctional Facility yesterday.
