The territory is ready to welcome its first cruise ship in more than 2 years.
The Celebrity Eclipse arrives around 6am tomorrow with 3,420 passengers and crew, and the American Samoa Visitors Bureau with the support of key agencies—and the private sector—aim to give the visitors a memorable welcome.
This will be the first of 21 cruise ships that plan to call into the port of Pago Pago this year.
The Fagatogo Methodist Youth will perform as the cruise ship docks tomorrow morning, and Miss American Samoa will be among the welcoming party.
Vendors have to register with the Visitors Bureau and their stalls will be set up around the Fagatogo marketplace.
Tour operators have tours of the island lined up and demonstrations of handicraft making and food preparation are also planned around the museum area.
The Arts Council is decorating the port area for tomorrow’s welcome.
Local agents for the cruise ship, who are spending today in Apia, are Swire Shipping.
All roads turning into the main dock will be closed to the general public. Only registered vendors will be allowed access to these areas controlled by Public Safety, Port Administration and the Arts Council.
