As it prepares to wrap up and stand down next month, the COVID-19 Task Force is working on a full report of its operations, its last outstanding item.
At the Task Force meeting on Tuesday, Chairman Lt, Governor Talauega Eleasalo Ale reminded members about the importance of these reports. He said, the report will document all the work performed by the Task Force and account for funding provided to American Samoa.
He added that the report will be shared with the public and federal partners.
Talauega, who’s also the Governor’s Authorized Representative to FEMA, encouraged members to have the report done sooner rather than later; and to let him know if there is any delay from agencies with a part to contribute to the report.
Also, at the Tuesday meeting, it was announced that the review and approval for air and ocean carriers coming into the territory, especially requests for added charters is to be returned to Port Administration.
While the territory was under the COVID public health emergency declarations, the authority for approving air and sea carrier entries was placed with the Task Force with final approval from Chairman Talauega.
With public health declarations no longer in place, Talauega said, any requests for entry from airlines or vessels should be returned back to Port.
