The Pago Pago Post Office is opening early this morning, so people can check for their Earned Income Tax Credit Checks.
Today is when the first batch of EITC checks will be released by Treasury. This issuance is valued at $7.9 million and is for 4,000 taxpayers, who filed their 2021 taxes between January and March 2nd this year.
The checks are being distributed by direct deposit in bank accounts, mail boxes and at the Disbursing Office.
Post Master Tao Suani says, the Post Office lobby will be open at 7am so people can check their mailboxes for their EITC checks.
The next release of EITC is next Monday, December 19.
The income threshold for those eligible for EITC is $29,904 for an individual and $29,904 for a couple filing jointly.
Passersby at TBAS’ main branch at the Centennial Building this morning said, people were already waiting outside the bank before 7am.
