Three men arrested during a police raid of a home in Mesepa, late last month, face charges of possession of drugs and possession with intent to distribute.
The home of the main defendant, Justin Unasa, also known as Siaki, was the target of the raid which took place in Mesepa on the afternoon of November 28.
Detectives of the Vice and Narcotics Division, who were executing a search warrant of Unasa’s home and a umu that afternoon, discovered stamp size baggies with crystalline substances that tested positive as ice, glass pipes and cut up straws associated with the use of ice, as well as a scale.
Unasa was playing ping pong with two other males in the umu. Police detained all three and patted them down for weapons.
One of the men, Viane Soonalole, allegedly tossed a glass pipe containing a crystalline substance when detectives approached him.
Police found the pipe which tested positive for meth.
A search of the second male, Uale Tuamasaga, didn’t produce anything and he was later released.
A fourth male, who later entered the umu where the three were playing ping pong, Molesi Toala, was found to be carrying a glass pipe which had the same crystalline substance. This also tested positive as meth.
During questioning of the men, Soonale told police that Unasa is selling drugs from his house and he has seen people coming to him to buy drugs. He said, the last time he saw Unasa packaging the drugs inside his house was the past week.
Bail for Unasa was set at $40,000, $10,000 for Soonalole and $5,000 for Toala.
