A man who sought police assistance ended up being charged for drugs.

According to the government’s case, on October 10, a man named Anthony Solamaalii called the Tafuna police station and asked for immediate police assistance at his house.

While responding officers were speaking with Solamalii at his home, a woman, who said she was a neighbor, approached and told officers that Solamalii came to their house and asked for her two sons by name.

He allegedly punched one of the sons in the face several times, causing swelling and bruises to the 23-year-old’s face. He then assaulted her 19-year-old son, before going to her sister’s house and assaulting her sister’s 18-year-old son.

Police patted down Solamalii before taking him to the police station and found a glass pipe with a white crystalline substance in his pocket. The substance tested positive as meth.

The defendant is charged with second degree burglary, unlawful possession of meth, two counts of third-degree assault, and disturbing the peace.

Solamalii, who is held on bail of $10,000, waived his preliminary examination in District Court and his case was bound over to High Court, where he entered a plea of not guilty.

His pre-trial conference is set for December 14.
