Winners of DOE Constitution Day competitions

To mark Constitution Day, the Department of Education (DOE) held several competitions for high school students.

The categories were song, essay, and poetry and the focus was the constitution of American Samoa or any of the 11 proposed amendments that were approved by the 2022 Constitutional Convention.

The winners were announced Friday.

Levalea’i Maligi of Manu’a High School won first place in the song competition.

Lama Petelo & Ane Tagaloa/Manu’a High

For the poem category, David Apineru of Tafuna High School won first place; Kenneth Thompson-Savea of Samoana High School placed second, and third were Lama Petelo and Ane Tagaloa of Manu’a High School.

The essay contest was won by Apelu Mann of Tafuna High School, with Toasamoa Tuialu’u of Manu’a High School placed second and Arianna Ta’atasi of Samoana High School placed third.
