The adult voters of Swains are to meet at the Election Office tomorrow to select their House representative, for the next two years.

Chief Election Officer, Dr. Lealofi Uiagalelei is convening the Swains meeting for 4:30 pm tomorrow at the Election Office in Tafuna.

Dr. Uiagalelei and the Election Office attorney, Faoa Aitofele Sunia, will be present as observers at the meeting.

The constitution provides that adult permanent residents of Swains Island, who are U.S nationals, may elect at an open meeting a delegate to the House of Representatives, who shall have all the privileges of a member of the House except the right to vote.

Incumbent faipule for Swains, Sua Alex Jennings, says that he will offer his service for the people of his island again.

Sua has spearheaded a public awareness campaign on a proposed constitutional amendment — which, if approved, would give the Swains faipule the right to vote.

At present the Swains delegate can vote in committee, lead a committee and join in debate on legislation but cannot vote when bills or resolutions are up for final reading.
