
The MV Manuatele arrived in Manu’a Sunday with scientists from the Us Geological Survey and equipment to monitor the earth movements which have caused much anxiety to the people of Manu’a.
The MV Manu’atele docked at Faleasao Harbor and was scheduled to return to Tutuila this morning with a full load of passengers.
A resident of Ofu said people want to leave the islands u til the earth stops shaking.
People of Ta’u, Ofu and Olosega islands report that the frequency of the tremors increased over the weekend. And so too the strength and length of the shakes.

Our correspondent in Manu’a says the tremors are felt strongest in Olosega, Ofu and Fitiuta.
The USGS says in its daily uodate for yesterday, Sunday August 21 that 20 earthquakes per hour have been recorded.
The estimated size of the largest earthquakes is between magnitude 2 and 3.
Reports of booming sounds on Saturday and yesterday are being investigated.
The alert level issued by the USGS for the islands of Tau, Ofu and Olosega is yellow…advisory.

At a special cabinet meeting Saturday the USGS team briefed the Governor, Lt Governor and directors about USGS machines, alert levels, aviation color codes, scenarios and hazards.
